River

The water in the river has slowed tremendously. Fishing is off, but the duck usage is looking good for the Oct 20th opener.

Lake

The Walleye bite is fair. The bite is improving every day.  White Bass are biting good.  They are being found on the mid through east end of the lake.  Best presentations are jigging and crankbaits.  Catfish on the lake have been biting good.

Stilling Basin

The overall fishing is fair. The Wiper bite in the stilling basin is sporadic, best on cloudy, cool days. Catfish are fair as well.

Hunting

Deer hunters are having good success. Some large bucks have been taken. Waterfowl is looking fantastic. Large numbers of Wood Ducks, Teal, Shovelers and Gadwall are on the lake and ponds. Fair numbers of Pintails and some mallards are also around. Remember, the early season is open north of Hwy 136, the lake is late season which opens on the 20th. Turkey shotgun opens Saturday and should be fantastic.
